Enjoy immaculate granite surfaces with our help

Whether you have gone for a granite worktop, splashback, cladding or something else, The Little Granite Kitchen Shop’s aftercare guide is suitable for all granite applications.

We are committed to helping you enjoy your investment for as long as possible and in order to do that there are a number of steps and actions we’d recommend to keep your granite looking its best.

Polished black granite kitchen worktop

Cleaning your granite

Use a neutral cleaner (pH7) to avoid damaging the surface. Quality cleaners are available in hardware stores and online. You can also use washing up liquid with water

To clean drainage grooves, use 000 grade, non-oiled wire

You can use cloths suitable for cleaning glass and stainless steel

Ensure any soap residue or hard water is wiped away immediately

To maximise shine, household furniture polish can be used occasionally

Avoid acidic cleaners and other acidic products (nail polish remover, oven cleaner, degreasers)

Granite worktops and cooking

To prevent damage we would recommend preparing food on a chopping board, and using stands for hot pans

Avoid getting acidic food and drink (e.g. wine, vinegar, fruit juices) on the surface

Stain prevention

Clean quickly to prevent staining

Should your worktop be stained, lacquer thinner or acetone can be used, but only if necessary.

To enhance longevity, we recommend resealing your worktop annually.
